I found that the flash application is using this php page to parse the data:

http://www.ronpaul2012.com/...

So it's late now, but maybe for the next money bomb you can use that to create the charts in real time.
Good luck.

Re: About

Will ronpaulgraphs.com be update for the upcoming May 5, 2011 money bomb? Since you already split your mp3s, it probably won't be much use to you.

(I don't think that AudioSlicer supports CDDB. If the program is still in active development, it might make sense to make a feature request for it.)

The recipe I used to create the CDDB file in case someone wants to use the same cross-platform, open source tools for this purpuse:
* 'mp3splt -s -p nt=## little_brother.mp3' to split on silence into ## tracks
* edit the split index or combine files with 'mp3wrap' to your liking
* use 'make-cddb.pl' (from JWZ's 'gronk' to generate a CDDB file from your split track
* double-check in mp3splt and fine-tune the split points and track info in the CDDB file

Re: Slicing Up Cory Doctorow's Little Brother : CodeSushi

Thanks Karnesky! Windows and Linux: You can use mp3splt, which is free and open source:
http://mp3splt.sourceforge....

I have hacked a CDDB file up:
http://arc.nucapt.northwest...
The split points aren't identical to yours, but they're "close enough."

To use: 'mp3splt -c little_brother.cddb little_brother.mp3'

This will retain id3 info on book, author, chapter name, and track number. You can use the '-o' argument to mp3splt if you are unhappy with the default naming scheme (author - track number - chapter name.mp3).

Re: Not A Joke : CodeSushi

War is Peace; Freedom is Slavery; Ignorance is Strength

Add to that "Forced compliance is voluntary."

What a waste of time. I am not an anarchist, and so I do believe that the government ought to compel people in certain instances-- but you can't even have a discussion about the proper size and scope of government when those in power exhibit this kind of belligerence. Which definition of voluntary does Harry like?

1 : proceeding from the will or from one's own choice or consent 2 : unconstrained by interference : self-determining 3 : done by design or intention : intentional <voluntary manslaughter=""> 4 : of, relating to, subject to, or regulated by the will <voluntary behavior=""> 5 : having power of free choice 6 : provided or supported by voluntary action 7 : acting or done of one's own free will without valuable consideration or legal obligation

None of the above. Harry seems to think something is voluntary if he says it is voluntary. How long will Americans allow these kind of dimwits into power? Ridiculous. Me thinks you're not being "honest in your dealings with your fellow man," Harry.

Re: I, Cringly : CodeSushi

:)

Thanks, really appreciate it!

Re: Not A Joke : CodeSushi

It seems like we deserve to have some learned people in charge... these senators are the most powerful people in Washington and they don't even understand the fundamental principles of the government they have so much sway over... scary stuff.

Is this JB?

Re: Introducing GovRake : CodeSushi

Thanks Micah

Yeah, I've looked at that... but a big part of the interest for me is tackling the technical problems myself and working in this problem space such that I am forced to really understand all the documents, processes, relationships and terminology... for me it's about mastering a new domain... at least until I get bored or find something more interesting :)

also that code is all written in Ruby, a platform with which I am not familiar, and coming up to speed on a new language and tool stack to work on an existing code base of that size isn't nearly as interesting as diving right into the domain problems.

I do follow the sunlight efforts... I especially love this new bill format they are using at publicmarkup.org talk about sexy! I don't see much at sunlight that I can apply here in Maine... but I think it might be interesting to follow their API... such that people who are familiar with using it to access federal data, could do the same for Maine data.

My first concern now is getting a pretty solid understanding of what is out there... and making the more hard to find stuff easier to find... like the house and senate session records... can you believe those were only available in Word docs?

thanks for following along! I really appreciate the feedback.
dan
